Erasing discrimination has become a global issue of urgent concern in recent times. It has grown out of the realization that despite the progress made in the fight against discrimination, society remains inequitable in various areas such as race, gender, sexuality, religion, and class. Eradicating discrimination is crucial for building an inclusive and harmonious community.
As a high-level professional journalist, it is my responsibility to highlight the significance and urgency of this topic. Discrimination in all of its forms poisons human relationships and shatters social harmony. It denies individuals the fundamental human right to be treated with dignity, respect, and equality. It creates a world that perpetuates suffering and pain for many, while privileging others based on their identity.
To address this issue, we must acknowledge the various forms of discrimination that exist, and work towards eradicating them. We must take an intersectional approach, recognizing that individuals are often subjected to multiple forms of discrimination simultaneously. For example, a woman of color may face discrimination based on her gender, race, and class, while a disabled person may face discrimination based on their ability, gender, and socioeconomic status.
To unite the world in diversity, we must dismantle the concept of ‘otherness’. This can begin in our communities by creating spaces that celebrate diversity and promote inclusivity. Schools should teach students about different cultures, religions, and customs, and businesses should be inclusive in their hiring practices to reflect the diversity of their customers. Governments must pass inclusive policies and enact legislation that protects marginalized groups and prevents discrimination.
In conclusion, erasing discrimination is crucial to creating an equitable, inclusive, and harmonious world. As a society, we must work together to recognize and address the various forms of discrimination that exist, while promoting inclusivity and diversity in our communities, workplaces, and governments. Erasing discrimination will not be accomplished overnight, but through consistent and sustained efforts, we can make our world a more equitable and inclusive place for everyone.
